Kayu

BUILT TO LAST,
BY NATURE

We don’t just supply material, we provide the foundation for enduring legacies.

Not all Teak is created equal. At Kayu, we exclusively source Grade A Heartwood the densest, most oil-rich part of mature Teak trees from sustainable plantations in Java. While common hardwoods fail under the pressure of salt air and tropical humidity, our Teak thrives, offering a rare combination of structural integrity and timeless aesthetic appeal

High Oil & Silica Content

The secret to Teak’s legendary durability lies in its cellular composition. It is naturally saturated with protective oils and silica, creating an internal barrier against moisture, rot, and pests. Unlike other woods that require heavy chemical treatments, our Teak is "self-armored" from within.

Dimensional Stability

With a tight, dense grain structure, Grade A Teak is exceptionally resistant to warping, splitting, and cracking. This stability is critical for high-precision cabinetry and wide-plank flooring that must remain flawless despite temperature and humidity fluctuations.

Grade A (Heartwood)

Sourced from the center of mature trees (25+ years). Uniform honey-gold color, rich in oils, and capable of lasting over 50 years with minimal care.

Grade B/C (Sapwood)

The outer layers of the tree. These are lighter, softer, and prone to rot because they lack the necessary natural oils. Kayu never utilizes sapwood in its architectural finishes.

From Honey-Gold to Silver-Gray.

One of the most poetic features of premium Teak is how it ages. Exposed to the elements, the wood undergoes an organic transformation, developing a distinguished silver-gray patina. This is not a sign of deterioration, but a hallmark of authentic material that adds character and "soul" to the architecture over decades. For those who prefer the original warmth, the golden-brown hue can be easily maintained with periodic sealing.

Sustainable by Design.

Our commitment to luxury is matched by our dedication to the environment. Every piece of Kayu material is SVLK certified (Indonesia’s Timber Legality Assurance System), ensuring 100% traceability and compliance with strict environmental regulations. We partner with managed plantations where every harvest is followed by immediate replanting, preserving Indonesia’s natural heritage for future generations.
